Design your own Christmas Votive holders

It's amazing what you can do with very inexpensive supplies!

You can make your own custom Christmas votives in a very simple way. First, find some small glasses or a plain glass votive candleholder, clear or of a light color is preferred. Next, you'll need some glue, some scissors and either a piece of fabric or ribbon. If it is ribbon, you want fairly wide ribbon.

Take your scissors and cut some cute shapes into the fabric or ribbon. It helps to draw on it with a pencil first and then do your cutting (always draw on the side that will be against the glass, not the side facing away from the glass). You can cut small stars, ornaments, trees, candle shapes, or even a ginger bread man if you are talented enough with the scissors.

Once you have the right shapes in your fabric, carefully adhere some glue to the backside of the fabric and wrap it carefully around the glass. Make sure the ends are carefully aligned for a seamless look. You can then decorate the fabric further if you would like with tiny jewels or crystals.

Now, when you place your votive inside the glass, it will play out those shapes as the light of the candle flickers and dances. Beautiful and inexpensive!
